We believe training is a vital part of every foster carer’s journey. After all, the more you know, the bigger the impact you’ll have on the lives of the children or young people in your care.
That’s why we provide our carers with ongoing training and the opportunity to study for formal qualifications including an SVQ 3 Social Services (Children & Young People) SCQ F Level 7.
Your training experience will begin during the assessment process and continue throughout your fostering journey.
You’ll have the opportunity to attend regular courses held at local venues across Scotland, making it easy for you to fit your training around family life.
Our courses cover a wide range of topics, such as:
As you progress in your fostering career you’ll have the opportunity to attend specialist training to help you develop your therapeutic fostering skills and deepen your understanding of issues including, complex trauma, attachment difficulties and sexually harmful behaviour.
You’ll also be invited to attend weekly group training sessions with an FCA Scotland therapist, where you can meet other carers and learn from one another’s experiences.
