There are currently around 1,000 looked after children and young people across Scotland and all sorts of reasons why they need foster care.
Sometimes it’s because of a family illness, relationship problems or a family breakdown. Other children may have faced a situation where they needed to be protected.
Our foster carers come into children’s lives when they’re needed the most, and offer them the support and nurture they need to build a brighter future.
Many children in care have experienced neglect and physical, emotional or sexual abuse. All of them will have faced loss and separation from their birth family. As a result they’ll probably feel rejected, lonely and confused. Some will be withdrawn and find it hard to move on with their lives, while others may act aggressively.
That’s where you come in. As a foster carer your patience and understanding can help these children to overcome issues from their past. By staying calm under pressure and showing compassion during difficult times, you can help them to thrive.
When you foster with us you’re never alone. We’ll provide you with the best training and support possible.
We’re here for you, so you can be there for them.
