“Team Parenting®” is a phrase used by Foster Care Associates Scotland to describe the therapeutic fostering approach used within the agency, Team Parenting® suggests that looked after children should be surrounded by carers and professional who jointly understand their emotional and development needs.
Team Parenting® aims to bring together all those involved with the child to think about and reflect upon and discuss their views on the child’s emotional and developmental needs. Team Parenting® creates a space for the impact of the child’s psychological material on carers and professional to be felt and expresses.
Team Parenting® occurs via meetings that bring together all those involves with the child/ young person on a regular basis, to form a cohesive functioning and collaborative parenting team. This team can include social workers, foster carers and school staff.
