Foster Care Fortnight 2025: The Power of Relationships

As Foster Care Fortnight begins, we're celebrating the power of relationships—the theme for this year's campaign. At FCA Scotland, strong, supportive connections are at the heart of everything we do, from the bonds between foster carers and children to the wider support network within our community. Join us as we share inspiring stories that show how these relationships truly transform lives.

Celebrating the Life-Changing Power of Fostering

Today marks the start of Foster Care Fortnight – the UK’s biggest awareness raising campaign for fostering. The theme for Foster Care Fortnight this year is the power of relationships, so we’re sharing some of the stories from our foster carers – highlighting the incredible difference foster care relationships make to people’s lives.

This theme is apt as here at FCA Scotland, building strong relationships is what it’s all about. Whether it’s supporting the bond between our foster carers and a child, the support of our social workers and local teams, or the friendships built between our community of foster carers – these relationships shape lives.

Hear from our community of foster carers below, each one showing how strong, supportive relationships can transform lives in the most meaningful ways.

How our foster carers are changing lives…

“We’re like a very close-knit family – we are all there for each other.”

Meet Denise, one of our amazing foster carers, as she shares her fostering highlights over the years, what makes fostering with FCA Scotland so special and the vital role FCA Scotland plays in every fostering journey.

“It’s lovely to see the difference from when they first came to you, to the confident young people they are growing into.”

Foster carer Linda from North Lanarkshire shares her fostering highlights over the past 18 years, and the support she’s had with FCA Scotland.

“I think we’ve done something worthwhile and have been able to give back to our community.”

Meet Billy and Mary, foster carers who’ve built lifelong bonds with the children they’ve cared for over the years. Now grown and independent, many of their foster children still keep in touch—a testament to the lasting power of love, care and connection.
